At KAVA, the Surgical Acute Care Unit, we care for patients with acute surgical and trauma diagnoses. The patient population is varied and common diagnoses include, for example, appendicitis, ileus, gastrointestinal bleeding, trauma, and urological diseases. KAVA has 24 inpatient beds and receives the majority of the acute surgical flow from the emergency department. The goal of KAVA is to focus on acute flow with rapid handling and short care periods with focus on the best for our patients.
