The Division of Materials Science at Luleå University of Technology is seeking motivated candidates interested in research on structural materials with a focus on design and development of advanced sorbent materials for environmental and gas purification applications. The research subject "Structural Materials" has ongoing research programs spanning broad research areas in metallic and ceramic materials (high-temperature intermetallics, space materials, high-strength steels, porous ceramic materials and materials for energy recovery). The division is part of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics, which also includes several other research subjects with activities in materials engineering, such as materials mechanics and machine elements. In the educational programs, the two main programs with international profile are important for the department, namely the EEIGM Civil Engineering program and the AMASE Master's program. RESEARCH AREA DESCRIPTION Materials Engineering encompasses the composition, structure, properties and manufacturing of materials, primarily metallic and ceramic materials, as well as their application aspects. PROJECT DESCRIPTION You will work on synthesis, optimization and characterization of advanced sorbent materials for selective capture of NOx and SOx under humid industrial conditions. Based on computational results from project partners, the student will develop functionalized activated carbons, ion-exchange zeolites and MOF-based hybrid composites with improved adsorption selectivity, moisture stability and low-temperature regeneration capability. The work includes studies of adsorption mechanisms, binding thermodynamics, NO and NO2 selectivity and effects of SO2 interference using advanced characterization and adsorption techniques. The research will also address sorbent durability under realistic gas mixtures with contaminants as well as optimization of material formulations for additive manufacturing and pilot-scale implementation. The project has been awarded funding through the EIC Pathfinder challenge on waste-to-value conversion. DUTIES As a PhD candidate, you are responsible for defining your daily tasks and how they should be performed. You will act and train as a project manager in combination with your own development. Participation in other projects and teaching will occur up to 20 percent of your time. QUALIFICATIONS The applicant should have a civil engineering or master's degree in materials science, chemistry or chemical engineering, and have good knowledge and experience of sorption, catalysts and their characterization. As unit manager for facilities and safety, you will lead a team of 8 people. The unit plays a central role in creating the best possible conditions for the university's education and research. We are responsible for facility management and the development and administration of systematic workplace safety work with a focus on laboratory safety. We would like you to have previous management experience and have worked in a leading role for at least 3–5 years in the field. You have broad experience from the property or construction industry and are well acquainted with the different stages of the building process. You are experienced in developing and improving processes and working methods. As a person, you have your own drive, take your own initiatives and can inspire your team to perform their work. You are experienced in dialogue with different types of operations and together find the best solutions. You are curious and want to learn new things, seek help from others and learn from mistakes. Building trust both internally and externally is a prerequisite for developing and professionalizing the unit's working methods. You have experience as a manager or leader at an operational level. It is advantageous if you have experience with: workplace safety responsibility or workplace safety work in a technical or laboratory operation experience as the person financially responsible for operations and projects contract responsibility experience with property projects, particularly work with customer requirements in the early stages of the project To thrive in the role, you need an interest in developing working methods in collaboration with, for example, core operations/customers, employees, property owners/suppliers. We are looking for you who are a nurse or psychiatric nurse and want to contribute with your expertise and commitment to an important and meaningful assignment. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry works with children and adolescents up to 18 years of age with moderate to severe psychiatric issues. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Norrbotten consists of four outpatient clinics, a unit for round-the-clock care, the safety team that works with acute assessments, and the neuropsychiatric CAP team. This position is for you who can and want to make a difference for the children and young people who need us. Within CAP you meet children and adolescents in difficult situations – and you also meet their families, other close relatives or perhaps government representatives who are part of their lives. We are looking for you who knows who the main person is every day in every patient matter. It requires more than empathy, it requires expertise and courage and we are looking for you who takes responsibility genuinely. We are looking for We are now looking for you who are a licensed nurse with a few years of experience in the profession. You have good computer skills and we consider it a merit if you are specialist trained in psychiatry or health and care for children and adolescents. You should have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing and it is an advantage if you speak Finnish and Sami but not a requirement. As a nurse within CAP you work with children and adolescents in complex and sometimes difficult life situations. The work involves contact with patients, their families and other important actors in the child's network. The assignment requires good ability for independent medical assessments, confidence in the profession and respectful treatment even in challenging situations.
