Systems Specialist in Clinical Pathology, Laboratory Medicine in Umeå

Clinical pathology is part of Laboratory Medicine, a regional organization with operations in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå. Laboratory Medicine Västerbotten comprises approximately 520 employees and includes clinical pathology, clinical microbiology, infection control, clinical genetics, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, biobank, and tissue facility. Through an agreement, we have full responsibility for clinical pathology in Östersund, including medical management responsibility for immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, and clinical microbiology. The operation is accredited and we work according to the quality system on which Laboratory Medicine's accreditation is based. At the clinical pathology laboratories, approximately 120 people work in Umeå and approximately 15 people in Östersund. Thanks to our rapid development and increasing number of analyses, staffing has been significantly expanded in recent years, and we have become a large group with strong cohesion, humor, and work satisfaction. As a systems specialist in Clinical Pathology, you will be part of a team with systems specialists, IT technicians/technology specialists, and an MT engineer. Together, you are responsible for the laboratory's system support regarding both development, new functionality, and ongoing management. In this role, you will also handle specific IT-related specialized functions for the department, currently specifically filling a coordinating function between our own system support and the PACS digital imaging system, which is managed by another unit. These functions may take up a varying portion of the position but up to approximately 50%. The work is carried out in collaboration with other team members. The work is conducted in close collaboration with other functions within the laboratory, the region, and in some cases across regional boundaries. This means many contact points and varying work days.
