Department Description The Anesthesia, Operating Room, and Intensive Care division is responsible for 24-hour care at the Operating and Intensive Care units at Alingsås lasarett and Kungälvs sjukhus, as well as day surgery operations at Angereds närsjukhus and Högsbo närsjukhus. The ICU and operating unit at Kungälvs sjukhus have approximately 200 employees. The Intensive Care Unit provides care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, invasive circulatory monitoring, dialysis, and extensive postoperative care. The ICU is currently staffed for five intensive care patients plus three intermediate care beds and inpatient postoperative patients. Adjacent to the ICU is a separate postoperative day surgery recovery unit. The operating unit in Kungälv performs procedures in general surgery, orthopedics, and urology.
