For summer 2027, we are seeking responding firefighters for vacation coverage at our full-time stations in Nasta, Öster, and Byrsta. Nerikes Brandkår is a municipal federation where Örebro, Kumla, Hallsberg, Lekeberg, Laxå, Askersund, Nora, Lindesberg, and Ljusnarsberg collaborate on rescue services and accident prevention. Part-Time Firefighters/On-Call Personnel in Strängnäs, Mariefred, and Åkers Styckebruk

Do you want to create safety, security, and care for those who live and spend time in our area? The Rescue Service in Strängnäs municipality works with two areas: operational activities (emergency response/training/equipment maintenance) and prevention activities (inspection/education/advisory). Together we work toward two overarching goals: to reduce the risk of fires and other accidents occurring, and to ensure that damage is limited when accidents do happen. We shall provide our residents with a safe and secure municipality in which to live and work. Operational activities are organized with both full-time and on-call (RIB) personnel. Together we have broad expertise that is often very important and valuable for various types of rescue operations. Prevention activities work to promote good fire protection and measures that prevent and avoid accidents in society. We are seeking rescue personnel on call for the Rescue Service operations in Strängnäs/Mariefried and in Åkers Styckebruk. As on-call rescue personnel (RiB), you have an assignment alongside your regular work and respond to alarms in the area where you live and work. You will become part of a work team that together is responsible for carrying out rescue operations and contributing to public safety. 10 position(s). DUTIES Being on-call rescue personnel means you live/work and go about your daily life as usual, but during certain weeks you are on call. This means you must be able to respond when the alarm sounds, regardless of the time of day. When you are on call, you carry a pager and must be able to reach the fire station within 6 minutes in Mariefred/Åkers Styckebruk and within 10 minutes in Strängnäs. From there you travel with your colleagues to various rescue operations. This might involve fires in buildings, vehicles, forests, or open land. You might also encounter traffic accidents, automatic alarms, acute medical cases where you provide first aid while waiting for an ambulance, or other situations where people need help quickly. Your task is to work together with your colleagues to create safety, help those affected, and limit damage as much as possible. Between alarms, you train and develop your skills regularly. You will become part of a group where cooperation, responsibility, and trust are essential. About the assignment: • On-call duty according to schedule, typically every third or fourth week. • An on-call week is 168 hours (24/7 for seven days) • Opportunity to swap on-call shifts with colleagues if needed • You are based at a fire station in Strängnäs, Mariefred, or Åkers Styckebruk • You participate in training approximately 3 hours per week, usually in the evenings during your on-call week Important to know! • The part-time firefighter role is a secondary occupation and cannot be a full-time position • You have another primary employer or other primary occupation • You have the ability to leave your primary occupation immediately when an alarm sounds • You are expected to maintain good physical fitness to perform the role • We conduct annual medical examinations and offer PSA testing for employees over 50 years of age. • We conduct alcohol tests for all personnel. You must live and work in a location that allows you to reach the fire station within 6 and 10 minutes respectively when on call. Previous experience from the rescue service, healthcare, or other operational activities is a merit but not a requirement.
