ABOUT US
Räddningstjänsten Mälardalen is a municipal association where the municipalities of Arboga, Hallstahammar, Kungsör, Köping, Surahammar, and Västerås jointly manage fire and rescue services and preventive work. Our mission is to create security for people who live, work, and stay in the region by preventing accidents, managing rescue operations, and strengthening society's preparedness.
With us work approximately 280 employees in several different professions – from firefighters and incident commanders to fire engineers, fire inspectors, and specialists. Through knowledge, collaboration, and engagement, we reduce risks and manage events when they occur.
Our operational area encompasses a varied and complex risk landscape that includes, among other things, a harbor and oil harbor, airport, major industries, European highways and national roads, high-rise buildings, underground facilities, and historic buildings. This makes working with us both challenging and developmental.
We are driven by a shared vision: a dynamic fire and rescue service that stands for security, efficiency, and safety – and where courage, care, and participation characterize our work every day.
