Engineering Manager at Techtor

Do you want to work as an engineering manager in an organization where you have real influence over your role and development? Techtor is now seeking a new colleague – with your first assignment in the technically advanced Vasa Ship Support project. About the Position This is a direct recruitment, meaning the recruitment process takes place through Bravura and you will be employed directly by Techtor. About the Company Techtor is a consulting firm in infrastructure development without managers – not as an experiment, but as a deliberate choice based on a simple conviction: people perform best when they have freedom, responsibility, and genuine insight. All employees have complete access to the company's finances, business, and decision-making processes. Instead of a manager, you have a coach (a sounding board for your assignments) and a mentor (a sounding board for how you want to develop in the organization). This means you have more freedom than in most companies – and more responsibility. It suits you if you actively want to choose that. About the Project Vasa Ship Support is the Vasa Museum's biggest challenge since the salvage in 1961. Chemical deterioration has weakened the wood and the ship no longer bears its own weight. Since the ship was raised from Stockholm's waters, it has rested in the same support frame, but this now needs to be replaced and supplemented with an internal support structure. The project is carried out in a living museum, around and beneath one of the world's best-preserved wooden ships, which places entirely different demands on precision and coordination than a conventional construction project. Currently, assembly of the ship's new external support structure is proceeding in parallel with the design of the internal structure. Responsibilities As engineering manager, you are employed by Techtor and work in a consulting assignment with their clients. Your first assignment will be in the Vasa Ship Support project in the role of engineering manager for the Vasa Ship's new internal support structure. You are responsible for driving the engineering forward and ensuring that work proceeds according to the project's governance, schedule, and requirements. The role involves many contact points and requires that you can structure, follow up, and ensure that the right information and decisions are communicated throughout the project. You will enter a project where parts of the engineering are already established, but where you also have the opportunity to influence structure and working methods going forward. You will follow the project through to implementation, including test assembly of the structure. Your main areas of responsibility: Lead daily engineering work and implement decisions according to project governance Plan, conduct, and document engineering meetings including engineering kickoff Manage requests for information and updates to requirement specifications Coordinate and synchronize documents from involved consultants Ensure that the engineering schedule and deliverables follow the project's overall plan Prepare decision support for design choices and budgets Manage boundaries and lead review processes Act as BAS-P coordinator for occupational safety issues related to engineering Qualifications, Experience, and Personal Qualities 4+ years of experience in construction or infrastructure projects Experience in engineering management or a role where you have driven engineering work Good technical understanding of structures Fluent Swedish in speech and writing Meritorious: experience with technically complex projects To thrive in this role and at Techtor, you need to be self-driven and able to advance your work without clear direction. You are communicative and confident in dialogue with various stakeholders, and you have a consultative approach where you see the value in the business. You are motivated by taking responsibility, have an interest in development, and thrive in an environment built on self-leadership, transparency, and active participation in both assignments and the company. Additional Information Start: By agreement | Location: Stockholm | Salary: By agreement We use a competency-based methodology in all recruitment processes to ensure unbiased selection.
