WORK TASKS Working as an on-call firefighter means you respond to alarms by being on standby and prepared for rescue work within 7 minutes. Your work tasks are to participate in exercises to become skilled in procedures related to our most common emergency types, such as fires, traffic accidents, medical care, or water rescue, to prepare for alarms, respond to alarms, and restore equipment after alarms. It is important that you both live and work within 7 minutes of the fire station in Tjällmo. Standby time is 1 week, every fourth week. Training and education time is approximately 60 hours/year. QUALIFICATIONS Formal Competencies: • You must be able to reach the fire station within 7 minutes and be able to be on standby for one week every fourth week. • Upon employment, you must have a B driving license; once employment is confirmed, you should begin training to obtain a C driving license. • We conduct physical tests prior to employment, so you need to be healthy and in good physical condition. • You must have approval from your primary employer to be on standby during regular work hours. • Swimming proficiency in accordance with the Silver Badge. • You will undergo a work-related treadmill test before you are approved for duty and employment. • It is an advantage to have a C driving license as this is something all our employed firefighters must have in the long term. • It is an advantage if you have already worked within the Rescue Service in another location or have training within municipal Rescue Service.
