Combat Commander at the Sensor Platoon, F 16
Sweden's control of airspace depends on sensors and communications systems that are active 24/7. To support this, there are mobile systems to enhance radar and radio coverage where air warfare demands it. This is the Sensor Company's mission: to ensure that assigned systems are in place where needed and deliver information to the air force's combat operations. About the Unit The Air Combat Battalion's Sensor Company is unique in solving their assigned tasks. If you're looking for a technically-focused company with a distinctive mission and nationwide operational area, you've found the right place. The Sensor Company fulfills its tasks regardless of the threat picture, which requires maintaining foundational soldier competencies to be able to perform anywhere, anytime. The Company's two platoons currently operate the air defense radar systems PS-871 and PS-861, and the air communication systems TMR30B and TMR50. Solving these tasks requires a wide range of capabilities such as mast and tower work, heavy vehicle operations, and systems training, in addition to common soldier duties. The Company is currently experiencing significant growth in both personnel and capabilities. This demands leaders who can act in various roles, train, and maintain these capabilities in the Company. The major transformation the Company has undergone is from being purely technical to one where high combat-technical capability is combined with the previous technical focus. Primary Responsibilities As a combat commander in the Company, you are part of the Company staff. The core of your position is deep expertise in designated areas such as combat, medical services, vehicle maintenance, fieldwork, and CBRN. Your primary task is to plan and conduct training within your domain for the Company's soldiers and officers. Beyond this, you develop your competence and stay current within your specialty and monitor the platoons' capability and training needs. During operations, you serve in the Company staff as a subject matter expert within your specialty. You contribute to the Company's regular field staff duties and can be deployed to assist with your expertise at the Company's operational groups' locations when required. The Company's activities have broad scope, which means that in addition to your primary specialty, you can develop competence in other domains relevant to the Company. Examples could include C-UAS and UAS, SERE, climbing, or electrical systems. Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. You are solution-oriented and can work both in groups and individually with your supervisor's objectives as your guide. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
