Department of Molecular Sciences We are seeking an experienced administrative director with strong commitment and interest in our operations and a desire to work in an academic environment. About the Role As administrative director, you will serve as an important support function to the department head and management on matters relating to strategic planning and monitoring of operations, particularly in areas connected to finance and personnel. You will be part of the department's management council. You are responsible for personnel and operations of the administrative support function, which currently consists of 5 people. The team provides support and services in finance, HR, infrastructure, archiving, and other administrative functions to both management and staff. The role of administrative director also involves serving as a link between the department, the faculty office, and SLU's central administrative services. Your Background Responsibilities: serve as decision support to the head of department and subject-area responsible/unit managers prepare matters relating to financial planning, organization, personnel, infrastructure, procurement, and operational planning develop the department's common administrative processes and working methods actively participate in and ensure budget and financial closing work, result monitoring, and operational analysis manage the department's administrative staff create conditions for support services to continue functioning in a qualitative, efficient, and functional manner conduct staff and salary reviews for the department's administrative support take an active role in recruitment and personnel development at the department participate in the department's management council be responsible for the department's rehabilitation matters and follow-up in the Adato system tool when needed, undertake other administrative tasks Qualifications: You must have: an academic degree that the employer deems appropriate for the position, for example in economics several years of work experience from similar areas documented several years of experience in management with personnel responsibility very good skills in written and spoken Swedish and English good skills in the Office suite As a person, you have the ability to view issues and solutions from a holistic perspective. You understand the connection between administrative support services and the needs of academic operations, and you work in a strategic and analytical manner. The role of administrative director requires that you have a genuine interest in leading and developing people and operations. You are responsive and have the ability to create a good and positive work climate and good working environment, and you have a service and collaboration-oriented work approach. It is meritorious if you: have good knowledge of the culture and regulations governing university operations have experience working in public administration, for example as an administrative director/controller at a university have experience in finance and contract management in larger projects, such as EU projects have experience driving projects, such as implementing administrative systems and procedures within administration In this recruitment, preference will be given to the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment of competence and ability, is deemed to have the best conditions to carry out the current tasks and contribute to positive development of operations. About Us The Department of Molecular Sciences conducts research and education in numerous areas related to chemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, and food science. We are approximately 100 people divided into a large number of organizational departments and units, where a subject professor is responsible for each unit's finance and personnel.
