The program operates a new Field Emission Electron Probe Microanalyzer (JXA-8530F JEOL HYPERPROBE), equipped with five crystal spectrometers (WDS), secondary (SE) and backscatter electron detectors (BSE). The instrument performs quantitative chemical analyses at a micrometer scale and imaging of minerals or materials down to a nanometer scale. Quantitative analyses of elements are possible in the range from beryllium to uranium. Job Responsibilities The research assistant will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the FE-EPMA and general management of the laboratory. In addition to routine operation and customer service, responsibilities will also include development and implementation of new micro-analytical methods such as in-situ chemical dating, trace element-based geothermobarometry, and basic analysis of volatile elements (depending on demand). Responsibilities will also include assisting students using the EMPA and training related to the role focus. Qualification Requirements Master's degree in mineralogy and/or petrology. Experience with Field Emission Electron MicroProbe and conventional electron microprobe is required. The applicant should also have a background in other electron-based micro-beam techniques such as SEM-EDS-EBSD and parallel techniques: Raman spectroscopy and practical understanding of mass spectrometry methods (e.g. LA-ICP-MS) applied to rock-forming minerals. Desired/Meriting Qualifications Practical experience with JEOL EPMA instruments (and specifically JXA-8530F Field Emission EPMA) is highly meriting. Experience in preparing EPMA datasets for thermodynamic modeling and geochronology is also highly meriting. It is desirable that the candidate has documented strong knowledge in modern mineralogy and petrology. Ability to build and develop professional networks with colleagues and to maintain close contact and collaboration with other institutions and laboratories worldwide is meriting. Knowledge of Swedish bedrock and training experience is meriting. Investigator with Focus on Technology-Facilitated Violence at the National Centre for Knowledge on Men's Violence Against Women The National Centre for Knowledge on Men's Violence Against Women (NCK) at Uppsala University and Akademiska Hospital has a government mandate to increase national knowledge about men's violence against women, honor-related violence and oppression, and violence in same-sex relationships. NCK is divided into a university division focused on research, education and information, and a clinical division with practice-oriented activities. Responsibilities We are seeking a motivated and ambitious PhD student for theoretical studies of ion transport in solid battery materials. The project aims to deepen the fundamental understanding of the mechanisms governing ion transport in solid polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries. The research will focus on developing new and computationally efficient multiscale modeling strategies, enabling systematic studies of ion conductivity in complex battery materials at large scales. Model-generated data will be used to identify important relationships between material structure and ion conductivity using advanced data analysis and machine learning methods. The expected scientific outcome is to provide guidelines for identifying and optimizing promising electrolyte materials and to contribute to the development of future battery technologies. The project is financed by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and will be conducted within the Structural Chemistry research program at Uppsala University, which encompasses both the Materials Computational Chemistry research environment and the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre (ÅABC). The PhD student will be an active part of both environments. The PhD student's main responsibilities are to conduct research studies, which include active participation in research projects and doctoral courses. Postdoctoral Researcher in AI-Driven Modeling of High-Entropy Electrolytes

Duties The project's focus is to model various types of high-entropy electrolytes at the molecular level for application in both lithium and sodium batteries. The goal is to understand how different design and material choices correlate with structure, dynamics, and performance. A special focus is on solvent-free electrolytes based on molten salts. The methods are primarily molecular dynamics simulations and smaller DFT calculations, but the software COSMO-RS may also be used. The project combines computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and artificial intelligence. A central part of the work is to develop and apply modern AI and machine learning methods to explore, understand, and optimize high-entropy electrolytes. The postdoctoral researcher will be part of Prof. Patrik Johansson's new research group at Uppsala University, part of the research environment Ångström Advanced Battery Centre (ÅABC). This fundamental yet application-inspired research project is funded by the Swedish Research Council through a Research Council Professor Grant for "Next Generation Batteries." The main duties for a postdoctoral researcher are to conduct research. These may also include teaching, up to 20% of working time, as well as supervision of and collaboration with doctoral students and thesis workers. Qualifications PhD in chemistry, physics, or materials science, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent. The degree must be completed by the time of the employment decision. The Department of Chemistry at Ångström Laboratory has long been home to a leading research and development environment in materials for energy storage and their applications: the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre. We develop new electrode and electrolyte materials, characterize and evaluate their properties, and improve their performance in battery applications. Furthermore, we study fundamental chemical processes and material properties using both experimental and computational methods. The research spans from basic research to applied research. Responsibilities The project focuses on the discovery and development of new halide-based solid electrolytes for use in all-solid-state batteries. Halide-based solid electrolytes are a promising materials class due to their high lithium-ion conductivity and potential compatibility with high-voltage cathode materials. However, their practical application is often limited by insufficient chemical and electrochemical stability at the interface between the negative electrode and the electrolyte. The overall goal of the project is to develop a fundamental understanding of the origin of these stability limitations and to use this knowledge to guide the design of new halide-based compositions that combine high lithium-ion conductivity with improved chemical and electrochemical stability. A central objective is to establish relationships between composition, structure, ion transport properties, and stability. The work will include synthesis of new solid electrolytes and investigation of the mechanisms governing their degradation and boundary reactions with battery electrode materials. Based on this understanding, new compositions and material design strategies will be explored to overcome the existing trade-off between high ion conductivity and stability. The research will thus combine material synthesis, structural and electrochemical characterization, and electrochemical testing in battery cells. The primary responsibilities are to conduct research. The position may also include teaching up to 20% of working time, as well as supervision of and collaboration with doctoral and master's students. Qualifications A doctoral degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. The degree must be completed by the time of the employment decision. Normally, the doctoral degree should have been completed within the last three years, calculated from the final application deadline. The Communications and School Collaboration Unit is part of the Office for Technology and Natural Sciences and primarily works with research and education communication, marketing and student recruitment, and supports collaboration with schools. We are looking for someone who is active, social, and enjoys speaking to groups and working with events. You will help ensure that children and young people encounter technology and natural sciences in a fun and engaging way. Research Assistant
The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on, among other areas, cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the guiding principles at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. The work will include implementation and optimization of experiments in cell culture, cell engineering, molecular and cell biology, drug screening, and analysis of drug response. Furthermore, the candidate will investigate drug metabolism and cancer-specific vulnerabilities in cancer cells in order to identify new therapeutic targets. The candidate will also contribute to the development and validation of experimental models for evaluating potential targeted treatments. The position involves close collaboration with other researchers and members of the research group and requires strong commitment to practical laboratory work. The position is based entirely at the workplace and does not offer the possibility of remote work. Qualification Requirements - Hold a master's degree in molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field. - Have solid knowledge of cell culture and other relevant laboratory techniques/methods. We are looking for a residential support worker interested in working with us at Laban short-term home as a temporary/casual staff member. As a casual worker, you fill in when regular staff are sick or on vacation. Children and young people come to our short-term home after their daily activities (school, after-school care, and day programs).
