The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on, among other areas, cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the guiding principles at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the operations are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Academic Hospital. The department has teaching responsibilities in a number of degree programs, standalone courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty. The department has a budget of approximately 550 million kronor, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is approximately 400, of which approximately 100 are doctoral students, and there are a total of over 850 active in the workforce. Learn more about the department's operations here: www.uu.se/medarbetare/institution/immunologi-genetik-och-patologi Job Responsibilities The person hired will conduct practical laboratory work within a research project focused on precision medicine and targeted cancer treatment. The work will include implementation and optimization of experiments in cell culture, cell engineering, molecular and cell biology, drug screening, and analysis of drug response. Furthermore, the candidate will investigate drug metabolism and cancer-specific vulnerabilities in cancer cells in order to identify new therapeutic targets. The candidate will also contribute to the development and validation of experimental models for evaluating potential targeted treatments. The position involves close collaboration with other researchers and members of the research group and requires strong commitment to practical laboratory work. The position is based entirely at the workplace and does not offer the possibility of remote work. Qualification Requirements - Hold a master's degree in molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field. - Have solid knowledge of cell culture and other relevant laboratory techniques/methods. Experience with cell engineering, cancer biology, drug screening, or drug metabolism is meritorious. - Have a strong interest in practical laboratory work and be committed to spending time in the laboratory conducting experiments. - Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team. - Have good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, as well as good collaboration, communication, and mentoring abilities. Desirable/Meritorious Additional Qualifications - Experience with animal experiments/in vivo research is meritorious. - Previous experience in precision oncology, targeted therapy, pharmacology, or development of cancer drugs is strongly meritorious.
