Work as a Digital Homework Tutor!

Do you want to make a difference? 19,916 students did not complete compulsory school in Sweden during the 2023/2024 school year. There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not meet the requirements for upper secondary school. At the nonprofit Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen, you contribute your expertise and commitment to help more students achieve the requirements with confidence for the future. We are now looking for new digital homework tutors! We are looking for you who are interested in a paid side job and at the same time want to make a concrete social contribution. The position is an hourly employment in the afternoons/evenings and involves, in short, being a digital homework tutor after school within the scope of our digital program. As a digital homework tutor, you meet students online and support them in their schoolwork via digital tools. You work in a team with other tutors and receive training in, and work according to, our structured approach and method. A central part of the assignment is relationship building. As a digital homework tutor, you need to be able to "break through the screen," create a sense of security, and build trusting relationships with students despite the physical distance. You are present, engaged, and attentive, and understand how important relationships are for students' motivation, study environment, and development. As a tutor, you can work either as a regular digital homework tutor or as a substitute. As a regular tutor, you work approximately 6 hours per week, distributed over two scheduled afternoons/evenings (with the option for extra substitutions). As a substitute, you work as needed when regular tutors are absent. The work is entirely digital. We are looking for you who: Are a university or college student. Have good pedagogical skills and can communicate clearly, engagedly, and in a relationship-building manner with children and young people in digital environments. Are comfortable leading and participating in digital meetings and find it easy to build contact and trust online. Are solution-oriented, take initiative, and can work according to our structured approach and method. Have broad basic subject knowledge and good study techniques. Share Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future. Since the work involves working with children, we place great importance on personal suitability. Providing an extract from the police's criminal record register to the employer is a legal requirement for working with children and young people. The differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine how likely you are to succeed in school. Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen is a nonprofit foundation that operates where it is needed most. Läxhjälpen is free for students, and tutors' salaries are financed through support from the business sector and public sector. Läxhjälpen is a concrete action that tackles one of Sweden's biggest problems today - that more and more young people are not succeeding in school and risk being excluded from society. Carefully selected, paid college students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and are also positive role models and mentors. Since our start in 2007, we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal - to improve grades and help students advance to upper secondary school. Today, we operate in over 90 schools in, among others, Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle, and Malmö. Machine Learning Engineer

You know that bit where every company says they're "changing the world"? Yeah, it can feel a little forced. But we like to think our story actually has some realness to it. Our story begins with Shadi Bitar and Ninos Malki, who came to Sweden from Syria as kids and discovered that books could be a bridge - helping them learn the language, understand the culture, and explore new worlds. A thought emerged, what if everyone could have that? And just like that, Nextory was born - your all-access pass to read, listen, and discover new perspectives without limits. And now, we're on a quest to find a Machine Learning Engineer. Let us tell you about the role 📖 As a Machine Learning Engineer at Nextory, you'll build the systems that power how users discover, understand, and engage with books. You'll work across AI agents, search, recommendations, retrieval, and product experiences, turning advances in AI into features that users interact with every day. Some examples of what you'll be doing: Build intelligent recommendation, search, and discovery systems that help users find their next favorite book and connect with the right content faster. Use AI, user behavior, and content understanding to continuously improve relevance, engagement, and user experience. Design, build, and operate scalable machine learning systems using LLMs, retrieval, recommendation, and agent technologies. Collaborate across product and engineering teams to deliver reliable AI-powered features with measurable user impact. Your story so far 👀 We believe you're an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and turning emerging technology into products that people love using. You are comfortable moving between product thinking and technical implementation, and you thrive in environments where experimentation, ownership, and fast iteration are part of everyday work. We also believe that you have: BSc in Computer Science or another relevant field, or equivalent work experience. At least 3 years of experience in a similar role. Strong programming skills in Python. Experience working with AI agents and agent-based systems. Experience building and shipping LLM-powered features to production. The Nextory way of working 🏠 At Nextory, we believe a strong and inclusive culture is key to our success and that culture flourishes when we meet and collaborate in person as much as possible. Researcher in Social Sciences

The Institute for Social Research, SOFI, is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University. SOFI is an internationally leading institute in the areas of social policy, welfare, inequality, and labor markets, and has approximately 90 employees. We are now seeking a junior researcher. More information about us can be found at: Institute for Social Research - Stockholm University. Project Description The research position is linked to the project Making Time: Organized Labor and the Politics of Care Leave, funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The project combines research on social movements and welfare state development, and examines the role that trade unions and organized labor play in advocating for and shaping care leave policies. These policies, which vary considerably between countries and over time, provide employment-protected leave from work to meet the needs of self-care or family care for a child, spouse, parent, or other relative. Analyses will consider differences in trade unions and the types of workers they represent, examine mechanisms for potential union influence over policy, and compare union-political relations across different institutional contexts. Duties MakingTime is a mixed-methods project that includes case studies of the development of leave policies in Ireland, France, and the Netherlands. Each country represents different degrees of corporatism and has adopted or reformed leave provisions within the past decade. Process-tracing techniques will be used to examine the implementation and development of leave legislation through the political decision-making process. The researcher will therefore collect and analyze archival documents from government and news media reports as well as identify and interview key political actors. Additional union leaders will be interviewed regardless of their involvement in leave policy advocacy work. The MakingTime project will employ one researcher for the French case study and one researcher for the Dutch case study. The current call is open for applicants to select their preference to investigate either France or the Netherlands. In addition to contributing to the above-mentioned case study research, the researcher is expected to collaborate with other project members and have research plans that advance the project's objectives. Conducting high-level research and publishing in international, peer-reviewed journals is also expected. Qualifications A researcher is employed primarily for research and must hold a doctorate or have a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctorate. Assessment Criteria In the appointment, particular weight will be placed on scientific proficiency. The applicant should have a doctorate in sociology, political science, or a related field of study. Assessment criteria include the applicant's: scientific ambition and innovative thinking quality of previous research, publications, and education experience with qualitative research, particularly with elite interviews, and the degree to which the applicant's research plan and previous research support the overall objectives of the MakingTime project. The applicant must be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Good communication skills in French or Dutch are preferred as the position will require interviews with decision-makers, union representatives, as well as advocates and opponents of leave. Documented knowledge of current politics and decision-making processes in France or the Netherlands will benefit the application. About the Position The position is full-time and is permanent with a six-month probationary period. Work will be devoted to the case study portion of the project, which runs for approximately two years. Work in France or the Netherlands may be required.
