Acute Geriatric Observation Unit. Care for our vulnerable elderly patients at Södersjukhuset. Södersjukhuset opened a geriatric assessment unit (G-CDU, Geriatric Clinical Decision Unit) in fall 2025. Our focus includes a higher level of nursing care alongside ongoing investigations in a calmer environment than what is possible in the emergency department. The G-CDU unit is part of the acute care flow and is organizationally placed within Internal Medicine. The unit receives patients across all somatic specialties, both from SÖS emergency department and directly from home, geriatrics, ASIH, or nursing and care facilities by agreement. G-CDU is open from Sunday evening (21:00) to Friday afternoon (16:00). We offer rapid investigation and treatment and prepare patients for the next step. Within 12-24 hours, the patient should either be discharged home, transferred to another specialty within SöS, or to another healthcare provider. Close collaboration with care partners in the region will therefore be a large and important part of creating as efficient and fast a care pathway as possible. We are a central operating facility conducting elective and acute surgery 24/7 in orthopedics, surgery, urology, and obstetrics. In total, we staff 15 operating rooms. During daytime we are sectioned by specialty, but during weekends and on-call shifts we work across all sections. Quality and development are our core values in everything we do, and we are proud recipients of Sweden's quality award in SPOR in both 2024 and 2025. We now need to strengthen the orthopedic section and are therefore seeking an operating room nurse for daytime with orthopedics only, as well as operating room nurses for three-shift rotations. About the Role We are looking for someone who wants to take greater responsibility in our orthopedic section. The role includes standard operating room nursing duties within orthopedic surgical care. If you are hired for daytime work, you are expected to become one of the knowledge bearers on the section. You work in an engaged team together with nursing assistants, operating room nurses, anesthesia nurses, and physicians. The operation has grown approximately 30 percent over the past two years and currently serves around 180 patients with 50 staff members. To create good conditions for close and sustainable leadership, we are now strengthening the operation with an additional unit manager. The role involves leading and developing the operation together with a colleague manager and helping maintain high quality and close culture as the operation grows. About the Role As Care Unit Manager for ASIH, you are responsible for operations, quality, work environment, and finances. You lead the operation together with a colleague manager and play a central role in ensuring high quality, good results, and a well-functioning work environment. You lead an experienced multiprofessional team consisting of registered nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and coordinators.
