The Regional Command Center (RLC) is an important part of crime prevention work and is responsible for police response activities throughout the region. The RLC is a section within the operational unit, and the workplace consists of, among others, RLC operators, RLC commanders, duty officers, and regional incident commanders. At the RLC, incoming phone calls, including 112 calls, and radio calls are handled, assessed, and prioritized. Operations at the RLC are characterized by a clear citizen perspective, where the RLC must maintain very high availability for matters requiring immediate or urgent police response. The RLC operates around the clock year-round, which means work hours are arranged for daytime, nights, and evenings as well as weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. Job Description As an operator, you will answer 112 calls from the public, handle radio calls from police officers in field service, assess and register information, and prioritize and dispatch police resources to various assignments. To solve the task, you will work according to a nationally established prioritization order and will work under the direction and support of commanders. You will also have access to several IT systems to help you search for information and get an overview. Periods of high workload and stress occur; regardless, you are expected to treat both citizens and the police officers you lead in a professional manner. To thrive in this role, you need to be confident, stable, and have good self-awareness, as the work tasks and working conditions can be experienced as psychologically demanding. The operator role includes collaboration with other authorities, organizations, and partners such as SOS Alarm, the Swedish Transport Administration, public transportation, the Fire and Rescue Service, and ambulance services in the region. Work as an operator begins with comprehensive training that provides you with the right tools and conditions to take on the assignment. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you who have: High school diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience At least 1 year of work experience Very good ability to communicate orally and in writing in Swedish Good understanding and ability to communicate orally in English Good computer skills and good ability to learn new IT systems Swedish citizenship It is advantageous if you also have: Experience working with or assisting people in vulnerable situations (for example through work experience or involvement in volunteer or community activities) Work experience in a role with high multitasking capacity such as alarm central, ambulance, healthcare, armed forces, communications center, customer service/support, or similar work that the employer deems equivalent Documented experience where work primarily occurred via telephone and computer Language skills beyond Swedish and English that you can apply orally without limitations in professional contexts deemed relevant for the position Post-secondary education in, for example, behavioral science, criminology, nursing, law, IT, or from police training that the employer considers relevant Personal Qualities As an RLC operator, you will daily meet citizens who are in difficult situations. It is therefore a prerequisite for the position that you are communicative and have the ability to adapt your language based on who you are speaking with. Furthermore, this requires a good ability to gather and evaluate information efficiently to move matters forward in a highly operational environment. To succeed in the role, you need to have the capacity to remain calm even in pressured situations. The role of RLC operator requires that you work well with others and interact with them in a responsive and constructive manner. It is important that you strive for good cooperation and contribute to the team. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. Other Information Employment Type: Permanent employment with a 6-month probationary period. The position begins with mandatory training. Successful completion of training is a requirement for continued employment.
