About the role As unit director, you will lead the work at the Unit for Healthcare and Medical Law 2, one of two units responsible for legal areas within healthcare and dental care. DUTIES As Senior Curator, you are expected to conduct high-quality research in mineral science, both independently and in collaboration with other researchers, utilizing the Unit's analytical resources. Your responsibilities include developing and leading a competitive research program, applying for and obtaining external research funding, and recruiting and mentoring master's students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers. You should also be able to host visiting researchers. The position also includes responsibility for operation, maintenance, and development of the NRM's mineralogical laboratories and promoting their use in research and analysis. Additionally, you will contribute to the Museum's outreach activities. Other tasks within the Unit and Museum may occur. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have a PhD in mineralogy, crystallography, or a related field. Excellent ability to express yourself orally and in writing in English and postdoctoral research experience or equivalent are required. Documented scientific excellence through publications of high international quality in mineral science and demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding as principal applicant are required. Experience in the following areas is meritorious: supervision (as primary supervisor) of master's students or doctoral candidates, research based on mineral collections, use of synchrotron and/or neutron beamline facilities, knowledge of spectroscopic methods and diffraction techniques, previous responsibility for a mineralogical laboratory, and participation in research communication and public engagement activities.
