Job Description: The Department of Forest and Wood Technology conducts extensive education in forestry with high demand and large student groups. To meet the needs of the operation, additional teaching expertise is required. The position primarily involves work in undergraduate education, where teaching, supervision, course responsibility, and course development are the main tasks. Teaching is planned based on the applicant's competence and may cover several subject areas within forestry management, such as forest management, forest ecology, forest assessment, nature conservation, and soil science. Teaching may also cover scientific methodology. The competence should have a clear connection to the research conducted at the department, with a focus on sustainable development and forest climate benefits. The ambition is for the department's lecturers to have the opportunity to participate in research activities as part of their professional development and within the scope of a portion of their employment. The connection between theory and practice is a central part of our education. It is therefore a prerequisite that the applicant has knowledge of, understanding of, and skills in the basic forestry subject areas. A large portion of teaching is conducted through a distance-based format that is complemented with excursions and in-person meetings with practical elements, where the forest and forest industry serve as important learning environments. The position involves extensive contact with students as well as collaboration with colleagues and industry representatives. Active participation in the department's internal and external activities is expected. Good collaborative skills and flexibility are of great importance, both in relation to students and in cooperation within work teams and research environments. A teacher's duties also include following developments within their own subject area and societal developments in general that are relevant to the teacher's work at the university. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer at Linnaeus University, an applicant must have a Master's degree in Forest and Wood Technology or equivalent competence, and have demonstrated teaching skills. Equivalent competence is normally understood to mean a degree from a foreign university with essentially the same level and quality as a Swedish Master's degree in Forest and Wood Technology. In addition to demonstrated teaching skills, the applicant must have completed higher education pedagogy training or be assessed as having equivalent skills. Furthermore, the following are required for eligibility for this position: Experience teaching in at least two of the following areas: Forest Management, Forest Ecology, Forest Assessment, Nature Conservation, Soil Science, Scientific Methodology. Experience supervising thesis projects at the undergraduate or advanced level.
