Researcher in Infectious Biology
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala University is a broad international environment for research and teaching. At IMBIM, basic research is conducted in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, tumor biology, comparative genetics, functional genomics, immunology, bacteriology, and virology. The department's research is primarily fundamental, but has clear connections and relevance to health and disease in both animals and humans. A more detailed description can be found at Research – Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology – Uppsala University Project Background Infections transmitted by mosquitoes and ticks are becoming increasingly common globally. The factors that enable the introduction, adaptation, establishment, and spread of vector-borne viruses and bacteria in new regions are largely unknown. Furthermore, research on vector-borne infections in temperate regions is underrepresented. Our research group, Lundkvist, Åke – Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology – Uppsala University, is interested in understanding how disease transmission via ticks and mosquitoes in northern countries is affected by climate change. We use molecular, virological, and bacterial techniques and models (e.g., PCR, sequencing, cell culture, various immunological methods, and live mosquitoes) to investigate which abiotic and biotic factors govern the spread and establishment of mosquitoes and ticks and the viruses and bacteria they transmit. Project Description and Responsibilities The researcher will work on biological and ecological questions regarding vector-borne infections together with others in the research group. The work also involves regularly presenting the work in group meetings, seminars, and international conferences. Our research group focuses on understanding how disease transmission via ticks and mosquitoes in northern countries is affected by climate change. The group has developed several methods to study these mechanisms and has access to its own biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory and a unique vector laboratory. Qualification Requirements A PhD with a background in infectious and vector biology with an interest in multidisciplinary research. Documented experience in infectious biology, particularly work with tick-borne pathogens, and extensive experience working in a biosafety level 3 laboratory is required. We are looking for a highly motivated, well-organized, driven, and enthusiastic person who is interested in our research area and ready to explore new directions in science. The candidate should have a high degree of independence but also needs to be able to collaborate smoothly and function productively in a team. Excellent English language skills are required (written and oral). We place great importance on personal suitability and are looking for a highly creative and motivated colleague who appreciates working in a team. Selection Criteria When selecting among qualified applicants, particular weight will be given to scientific proficiency. Norlandia Preschools Seeks Dedicated Childcare Staff for Uppdragets Preschool
Job Description - Childcare Staff Norlandia Preschools delivers education with high pedagogical quality in all our operations. New discoveries every day - is our ambition for every child, every day. Norlandia is a rapidly growing company with many exciting new projects underway. We strive to provide guardians with a positive experience and offer family services that free up time from daily chores and provide more leisure time together. We are innovative preschools that challenge traditional preschool structures and operations. Our approach is called EduZone and is unique to Norlandia. Doesn't that sound exciting? Don't you want to challenge yourself in your pedagogical role and join us? We want you to dare to challenge yourself and your perception of preschool. Of course education should be based on scientific foundation and proven experience, but that doesn't mean we have to do things the way we always have! We want you to be positive, spread joy and work enthusiasm, be a driving person who inspires others in pedagogical work, take your own initiatives and be responsible. The preschool works in project form with a shared focus area for the entire preschool. We have clear documents and digital platforms where we continuously and systematically document and follow up every child's learning. Digitalization in preschool is a matter of course for us, so it's important that you are comfortable with digital tools, both pedagogically and practically. We use Office 365 as our platform for systematic quality work and development, and Prion for documentation and communication with our guardians. Are accustomed to working in roles involving significant trust and customer contact. Are organized, thorough, and confident in following routines and processes. Have good administrative skills and basic financial understanding. Are self-driven, take initiative, and are comfortable with broad responsibility. Have high integrity and professional conduct. Experience from pawn banks, gold/jewelry, or premium retail is a plus, but not required. Who Are You as a Person? We believe you are driven by creating structure, shaping working methods, and developing a business that is at the beginning of its journey. You radiate confidence, appreciate order and structure, and are comfortable working both operatively and strategically. You are passionate about building something from the ground up and delivering a customer experience that stands out in the industry.
