Research Assistant in Immunology

The Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Grens Institute (MBW) conducts experimental basic research in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology. MBW is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University with approximately 30 research groups and about 180 employees, of which approximately 50 are doctoral students. Research in the Sverremark-Ekström lab focuses on how the immune system is shaped by interactions between immune cells and gut bacteria and the mechanisms behind these processes. In the current project, mechanistic studies are being conducted on how oral immunotherapy for peanut allergy affects immune cell transcription and functional responses as well as connections to the gut microbiome. The project is ongoing. We are seeking a person with a Master's degree in a field relevant to the project. The project encompasses both experimental laboratory work in biosafety level 2 (BSL2, wet lab) and bioinformatics analysis (dry lab). The person will provide support to the group members driving the project and must be able to work independently and be flexible, as well as provide support with figures and analyses as needed. The work includes advanced bioinformatics with sequencing data from immune cells and microbiota sequencing, as well as laboratory experiments where immune cells are stimulated with various agents in the laboratory. The position involves work primarily conducted on-site at our facilities. Qualifications A requirement for employment is a completed advanced degree (MSc) before the start of employment. Special weight will be given to knowledge and independence in bioinformatics, programming, as well as experience and independence in experimental work. Take responsibility for offering and product development throughout its lifecycle, from idea and concept to launch, further development, and phase-out, with a focus on competitive and market-adapted solutions. Drive commercialization and growth through market analysis, pricing, launches, marketing activities, and sales support, as well as by identifying new technologies, business opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
