Graphics Mentor at PlaygroundSquad

Graphics Mentor and Mentor at PlaygroundSquad 🎮 You've made the games. Now you can help shape the people who will make the next ones. You know Maya, you know game production, you know what it feels like when a rig refuses to work, when the animation doesn't quite fit, or when an asset that looked fantastic in Maya suddenly looks completely different in the engine. But it's not just your technical expertise we're after. We're looking for someone who wants to pass on what you know – and be the person you would have wanted by your side when you were new to the industry. At PlaygroundSquad, you'll meet students in the middle of their journey to becoming game developers. They come from all over the world with different backgrounds and personalities. Your task is to help them become the best they can be. You're more than just a graphics mentor. Of course, you'll talk graphics and how it actually works when you're building games for real. But then other things happen. You also become a mentor, a sounding board, a listener, and sometimes the person who just needs to say: "It's okay. We'll figure this out." Because sometimes the problem isn't bad topology. Sometimes it's confidence, sometimes it's group dynamics, or simply not knowing which direction to go. Then you need the human skill to meet people where they are. Okay, but what about the graphics? Yes, it's important. Maya is our primary tool, and you need to feel confident with the basics of 3D, animation, rigging and skinning, UV mapping, materials, texturing, VFX, and so on. Extra points if you have experience with TenGine, Blender, Godot, Unity, Unreal Engine, leading teams, or teaching. You don't need to know everything. But you need real experience in game production and understand how graphics are actually used in a game project. This is for you if... · maybe you freelance and want great colleagues, a workplace to go to, and a permanent position. · have a few years in the game industry behind you and feel you have things to give back. · get genuinely happy when someone else succeeds. · maybe want to move back home to Dalarna! · understand that a future game developer needs more than technical skills. It's pretty cool. Welcome to us! PS. There are other things besides graphics that could be added to the position that would make it broader, depending on what you can do and want to do going forward. But we can talk about that.
