The Orthopedic Clinic in Falun is a regional clinic responsible for providing the residents in our catchment area with good and safe orthopedic healthcare. Our operations include acute and elective inpatient care, acute and elective outpatient care, and day surgery. In addition to providing orthopedic care within our catchment area, we are responsible for spine surgery for the entire region's population. The primary catchment area comprises approximately 200,000 residents, but regarding spine surgery, where we serve the entire region's population, this rises to 280,000 residents. The Orthopedic Clinic in Falun handles approximately 30,000 outpatient visits annually. There is a ward with 18 beds for acute orthopedics and a unit with 6 beds for elective orthopedics. We perform 4,000–4,300 operations annually, of which 150 are spine operations. Since Dalarna's total need for spine surgical operations is 300–350, our vision is to increase capacity so that the region's residents are operated on in Falun instead of being referred elsewhere, which currently happens to a large extent. Job Responsibilities As a spine surgeon at the Orthopedic Clinic, you will have the opportunity to strengthen and develop our spine surgery operations regarding both elective and acute spine surgery. You will work in a team with, among others, physiotherapists, nursing assistants, and nurses. Your main work will be based at the orthopedic clinic and in the operating room. Your responsibilities will include: Assessment and treatment of patients with spine-related complaints Independent planning and performing of spine surgical procedures Participation in multidisciplinary conferences and care planning Supervising resident physicians and educating colleagues in the field Participation in research and development projects Orthopedic surgeons participate in the clinic's on-call operations The Orthopedic Clinic in Falun has broad operations covering all areas of the orthopedic spectrum with the exception of orthopedic oncology.
