Postdoctoral Researcher in Mass Spectrometry for Detection of Oxygenated Radicals in Air

Responsibilities Oxygenated organic radicals are important drivers of chemistry in many systems, such as metabolism in living organisms, polymerization, combustion systems, and the natural environment (Earth's atmosphere). However, few techniques can detect them today. We are seeking a motivated researcher to develop and apply a mass spectrometric technique (proton transfer mass spectrometry, PTr-MS) for detection of individual oxygenated organic radicals in air, within the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced project EPHEMERAL. The work will encompass characterization and optimization of a state-of-the-art Time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTr-MS) and use of other instruments to detect these radicals in laboratory and in air. This position will be within the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. Qualifications Requirements Completed doctoral degree or foreign degree in chemistry, physics, or appropriate field deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. This qualification requirement must be met at the time the employment decision is made. Responsibilities Oxygenated organic radicals are important drivers of chemistry in many systems, such as metabolism in living organisms, polymerization, combustion systems, and the natural environment (Earth's atmosphere). However, few techniques can detect them today, particularly in complex systems. We are seeking a motivated candidate to develop and apply global detection techniques for oxygenated radicals in ambient air and other complex systems. Postdoctoral Researcher in Microstructure-Informed Modeling of Fracture Mechanics

Job Responsibilities The position involves both experimental and numerical studies in fracture mechanics. The experimental work focuses on developing new specimen geometries to study defect evolution, especially void formation, under a broad spectrum of stress states, using advanced X-ray computed tomography (CT) in both interrupted and in situ tests. Initial studies will be conducted using the institution's own micro-CT equipment and will later be expanded to synchrotron experiments in collaboration with national and international partners. The experimental results will then be used to develop improved models for damage evolution in continuum-based nonlocal material models, adapted for implementation in finite element models for fracture analysis. These models will be applied to study the ductile-to-brittle transition in HSLA steel. The central information security function currently consists of an information security strategist, an information security coordinator/DSO, and an information security specialist.
