Together we create safety for around 95,000 residents in Nyköping, Oxelösund, Gnesta, and Trosa municipalities. On-Call Emergency Personnel (RiB), also called part-time firefighter, is a crucial part of Swedish rescue services. The role involves preventing accidents and participating in rescue operations such as fires, traffic accidents, cardiac arrest calls, chemical spills, and other emergencies. The deteriorating security situation places new demands on rescue services. The rescue service is part of civil defense and must be able to act under heightened alert to save lives and property. WORK TASKS We are now seeking you to work as on-call emergency personnel alongside your regular job at one of the fire stations in: • Oxelösund • Trosa • Nyköping • Nävekvarn • Vrena Please indicate in your application which station you are applying to. As RiB, you typically have on-call duty every third or fourth week, depending on the station. When an alarm sounds, you must arrive at the fire station and be ready to respond within 5-10 minutes. This means you need to live and/or work close enough to the station to meet this response time. At some of our stations, you have the option to be on-call for nights and weekends only, or daytime only, depending on where you live or work. Oxelösund Station – Firefighter on Call with Personal Vehicle (BiB) At Oxelösund station, there is also the opportunity to work as BiB. You would have access to a rescue service vehicle at home and at your regular workplace, and you drive directly to the incident when the alarm sounds. Basic Training: 4 weeks total, divided into two 2-week periods Planned for spring 2027, weeks 4+5 and 9+10 Before training, you complete 16 hours of web-based theory at your own pace You must be able to take leave from your regular job during training weeks Continued Basic Training: Part 2 is completed within two years, 3 weeks at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MCF) schools You receive pay during training, exercises, and alarm responses. Most exercises occur in the evenings, but some training/exercises take place during daytime on weekdays where you are expected to participate. We cover most of the cost of your C-class driver's license (heavy truck), which you are expected to obtain within 2 years of employment. Beyond basic training, you will continue to be trained over several years in areas such as: chainsaws, all-terrain vehicles, coastal navigation.
