The Environmental and Health Protection Department now needs a new colleague for the health protection team. Your responsibilities As an environmental and health protection inspector, you will work with supervision according to the Environmental Code and perform government assignments in a respectful and objective manner with the businesses and individuals you meet in the field. This position is focused on health protection and involves independently inspecting operations and assessing whether their activities comply with legislation. In this role, you set requirements, inform, and make decisions while contributing to creating a sustainable and safe environment for everyone. You plan and conduct inspections based on the established inspection plan and manage your own cases from start to finish. As an inspector with us, you will have a varied and developmental role. The work involves many collaborative contacts with other stakeholders, departments, and private individuals, which means you need to communicate in an adapted and professional manner. Your responsibilities include both planned and event-driven inspections. The inspection objects relevant to this position may include schools, preschools, cutting and piercing facilities, and more. You will also handle incoming cases such as complaints and reports. You need to be able to inform, set requirements, and make decisions based on objective grounds in a respectful manner. You plan your own workday and manage your cases both independently and in collaboration with others. You work closely with your colleagues and support each other. We use Ecos 2 as our case management system. Your qualifications We are looking for someone with a university degree of at least 180-240 credits in natural sciences, public health sciences, or technical education that is deemed appropriate, or equivalent practical experience. We also want you to have good knowledge of the Environmental Code. We see that you have good computer skills and express yourself well in Swedish both verbally and in writing. If you have education in administrative law of at least 15 university credits or equivalent practical experience, we see that as a plus. Experience with government authority work within the environmental and health protection field is also a plus. A B-class driver's license is required as service vehicles are used. As a person, you are confident, stable, attentive, and can remain calm even in stressful situations. You have good collaboration skills and communicate in a constructive manner. You take responsibility for your tasks and plan and organize your work efficiently. You can think in terms of risk and critically and have the ability to adapt to new knowledge and changes in legislation. You express yourself well verbally and in writing in Swedish, but you may also need to communicate in English. The work requires very good computer skills. We warmly welcome your application! What we offer At the Environmental and Health Protection Department, we are about 50 people working with supervision supported by, among other things, the Environmental Code, waste legislation, chemical legislation, radiation protection legislation, tobacco legislation, alcohol legislation, food legislation, and consumer legal advice. We participate in community planning through participation in internal steering and project groups and as a referral body in planning matters. Our activities are outward-facing and affect in some way everyone who lives and works in Västerås.
