The Thorax Intermediate Care Unit has 6 care beds and is organizationally connected to the Thorax Intensive Care Unit, which has 6 care beds. Together we employ approximately 90 staff members. We care for and treat over 1,000 patients annually who have undergone heart, vascular, and lung surgery. We also treat patients who develop severe heart and lung failure. The care is highly technological, and patients are monitored circulatorily and respiratorily through, for example, ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and arterial lines.
