Library Development Västerbotten works to promote development, collaboration, and quality in the region's public library activities and to strengthen libraries' role as a force for democracy, participation, and diversity. Since March 2026, together with Region Norrbotten, Region Västernorrland, Region Jämtland Härjedalen, and Region Dalarna, we have been running the inter-regional book start project Miessie. The project is funded by the Swedish Arts Council and aims to strengthen the Sami language of the youngest children in everyday life and activities through collaboration. The project contributes to promoting language development and reading among young children in the Swedish part of Sápmi. Collaboration takes place primarily between professionals and actors working with young children's language development, such as children's librarians, child health nurses, speech therapists, and educators. Sámi Library and Sámi Language Center are also actors in the project. We are now seeking a coordinator on a part-time basis who can strengthen the work with, among other things, Sami cultural and language knowledge. Together with the existing project manager, you will drive the project forward in collaboration with other regions and stakeholders. We offer developmental work in a creative and engaged work environment where we learn from each other and together advance important matters. 1 position(s). DUTIES As a coordinator, you create the conditions for collaboration, knowledge development, and long-term results. In this role, you are responsible, together with the project manager, for advancing the project and ensuring that project goals are achieved. You contribute your expertise in Sami culture and language as well as your experience from Sami society. Your knowledge is central to the project reaching its target group in a relevant and respectful way. Work as a coordinator is carried out in close collaboration with the project manager, working group, and steering group. You are also part of the working group within Library Development Västerbotten. During the project, you will meet, among others, children's librarians, child health nurses, speech therapists, and educators. QUALIFICATIONS The position requires that: • You have good knowledge of Sami society through, for example, education or work experience. • You have experience working with Sami children aged 0-3 years, through, for example, education or work experience. • You have strong digital skills. • You express yourself well in speech and writing, both in digital and physical contexts. Personal Competencies • You work in a structured and quality-conscious manner. • You have the ability to both independently and together with others initiate and drive development work. • You have a strong commitment to young children's language development in a Sami context. Meritorious • You have experience working with children and families and language development, for example within preschool, child health care, speech therapy, libraries, or similar activities. • You have experience with project work and collaboration with other stakeholders. • You can express yourself in speech and writing in one of the Sami languages. Employment Form: Fixed-term employment. Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: 2026-10-01. The position is 50% with start in October, ending: 2027-09-30. Working Hours: Daytime. The position involves multiple trips throughout Sápmi and Sweden.
