The Assistant Professor may be affiliated with the Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability, WISE. The duties include developing teaching merits that include instruction at both undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as supervision of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. The employee is expected to actively seek external funding for research activities. The appointment is limited to 6 years, consisting of 75% independent research and 25% teaching. The appointment is a "tenure-track," which makes it possible to develop and establish long-term research. An Assistant Professor has the right to, upon request, be considered for promotion to Associate Professor. Learn about the research conducted at the faculty's departments: Research at Departments and Centers Qualifications To be eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor, one must hold a doctoral degree or possess equivalent scientific competence. Preferably, the candidate should have completed a doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence no more than seven years before the time of application for the Assistant Professor position. However, a person who has completed a doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special circumstances. Special circumstances refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances. The doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence must be in physics, chemistry, materials science, or applied physics, related to materials for sustainable technologies in a broad context, and be relevant to the receiving department at the faculty. Strong English language skills are required, both spoken and written. Evaluation Criteria The evaluation criteria for appointing an Assistant Professor shall be based on the degree of competence required for qualification for appointment. In addition, consideration shall be given to the degree of pedagogical competence and other competence of relevance given the subject content of the position and the duties to be included in the appointment.
