Section Chief for Operational Business Support, Transport Department
About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and client transportation. The Transport Department's task is to transport detained persons. The transports mainly involve correctional clients, between remand facilities and prisons, as well as to, for example, court hearings and medical appointments, but also detained persons on behalf of, for example, the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatric services. During 2026, TA will conduct approximately 130,000 transports, which includes both domestic and international transports. The Business Support Unit primarily supports the department head but also other units. Support is provided in the form of, for example, developing analyses, strategies, and plans for the department head's entire planning horizon, case preparation, maintenance of cooperation points, and monitoring and development of transport operations. The unit also manages department-wide administration and coordination within various operational areas, as well as the entire Swedish Prison and Probation Service's vehicle fleet. The unit currently has approximately 20 employees divided between two sections, strategic and operational business support.
