Your new job Solskiftet is a short-term service for children and young people with intellectual disabilities, autism, or autism-like conditions. We also support children and young people with various additional disabilities, such as epilepsy, communication difficulties, and mobility impairments. Short-term supervision is aimed at school-age young people with special needs and offers safe, active, and meaningful leisure time after school ends and during school breaks, closure days, and study days. Activities are conducted in groups adapted to the children's and young people's age, needs, and individual circumstances. The service uses clarifying pedagogy to create a daily life that is predictable, understandable, and manageable. The service is located in a quiet residential area in Åkersberga, close to forests, nature areas, playgrounds, and stables. Here we offer active and meaningful leisure time in as home-like an environment as possible. Activities are adapted to each individual's interests, needs, and circumstances and can range from play, creative activities, and social interaction to outdoor activities and outings. Solskiftet has three departments, one of which is specially adapted for children and young people with extensive and persistent disabilities. The service is staffed 24/7. Your profile As a support assistant, you work closely with the children and young people and provide individually tailored support in everyday situations. You help create structure, safety, and predictability and support each individual in developing their independence based on their own circumstances. The work includes, among other things: providing pedagogical and practical support in everyday situations planning and implementing meaningful activities working with clarifying pedagogy and individually adapted communication preventing and managing challenging and acting-out behaviors in a safe and professional manner working actively according to a low-arousal approach participating in work with implementation plans, documentation, and follow-up collaborating with colleagues, guardians, school, and other important people around the child or young person performing care services based on individual needs You may also take on the role of contact person, which involves special responsibility for monitoring the child's or young person's well-being, development, and individual goals. Who are you? We are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and confident even when situations become demanding. You find it easy to build trusting relationships and understand that behaviors are often a way of expressing needs, feelings, or difficulties. To succeed in this role, you need to remain calm, adapt your approach, and work preventively. You are clear without being confrontational and can adjust when a situation changes. We place great importance on you: having experience working with children or young people with intellectual disabilities, autism, or related disabilities having good experience in preventing and managing acting-out or other challenging behaviors having knowledge of and practical experience with low-arousal approaches working structurally with clarity, predictability, and individual adaptations having strong communication and collaboration skills being responsible, solution-focused, and professional being able to reflect on your own approach and contribute to your work team's shared development You need to be attentive to subtle signals and at the same time be able to make confident decisions when the situation requires it. An unpretentious approach and a willingness to collaborate are essential, as we perform best when working together. Qualifications We are looking for someone with relevant education in care, health, pedagogy, or social work, such as support assistant, support pedagogue, nursing assistant, childcare worker, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. It is advantageous if you have: training in low-arousal approaches knowledge of clarifying pedagogy experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) knowledge of autism, intellectual disabilities, and neuropsychiatric disabilities experience with social documentation and work based on implementation plans experience with epilepsy, mobility impairments, or extensive care needs a B-level driver's license A driver's license is a requirement because the work may involve driving the service's vehicles in connection with activities, outings, and other individually tailored interventions. You need to be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, as communication, documentation, and collaboration are important parts of the work.
