Operating Room Nurse, Operating Unit 3, AnOpIva, Umeå

At Operating Unit 3, we work with highly specialized cancer surgery and vascular surgery. Upper gastrointestinal surgery including pancreatic, hepatic and esophageal resections. Colorectal surgery, gynecology, urology and endocrine surgery such as breast and thyroid surgery. Advanced vascular surgery such as abdominal aorta and carotid surgery. PhD Student in Business Administration with Focus on Accounting and Auditing The Department of Business Administration at the School of Business and Economics is seeking a PhD student in business administration with a focus on accounting and auditing. We are seeking a PhD student for a research project on how audit firms build capacity for sustainability competence in response to requirements for sustainability reporting and external assurance under the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Using various methods, the project examines how team resources, audit processes, and organizational contexts shape the quality and credibility of sustainability assurance. The project aims to develop knowledge-based models and practical guidance that strengthen audit firms' competencies for implementing sustainability assurance, support the work of regulatory authorities, and increase confidence in sustainability reporting. Responsibilities You will have the Department of Business Administration, School of Business and Economics, as your primary workplace and will work on a research project (Assurance in Transition: The CSRD Competence Challenge) led by Associate Professor Alice Annelin. Within the scope of the project's focus area, you will formulate your own research question. The project takes an exploratory approach, which opens up for various appropriate methods for data collection and analysis. The Department of Computing Science is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the project "Human Interaction with the Humanoid Unitree G1" within WASP, led by Lecturer Zoe Falomir. Project Description and Work Tasks This project proposes the implementation of a cognitive agent in a humanoid robot that collaborates with a human partner to solve a spatial problem (e.g. 3D puzzle). Tasks: The following shall be performed: (i) scene understanding: detection of objects and relationships between objects, and use of these relationships to draw conclusions about new knowledge (i.e. reasoning); (ii) explore the affordances of objects, learn the consequences of performed actions and enrich the knowledge base (i.e. learning through interaction); (iii) use previous experiences to predict actions that may be useful in the present, test them and update the knowledge base (i.e. learning updates). Also writing scientific papers and communicating our research progress at conferences. Methods: Programming of a humanoid platform using ROS2 packages, using SLAM, using imitation learning algorithms to learn pick-and-place tasks, designing HRI experiments with users, evaluating data and sharing code and benchmarks in open repositories. Doctoral Candidate Position

Department of Forest Ecology and Management Research Education Subject: Biology Description of the Doctoral Project: Nitrogen availability is a major limitation for plant growth and carbon binding in boreal forest soils. Although proteins constitute a large proportion of the soil nitrogen pool, the processes governing their breakdown into amino acids are still poorly understood. A critical knowledge gap exists in understanding soil protein composition and properties and their role in regulating the nitrogen cycle. This doctoral project will address this challenge by characterizing the composition of proteins in soil and investigating the mechanisms governing nitrogen turnover. The doctoral candidate will primarily work in the laboratory and analyze natural soils from mesocosm and field experiments. The analytical work will be conducted in close collaboration with the Umeå Proteomics Platform https://www.umu.se/en/research/infrastructure/umea-proteomics-platform/ The project is led by Sandra Jämtgård, Department of Forest Ecology and Management, SLU in collaboration with Maja Sundquist and Jonatan Klaminder.
