The research addresses questions about stereotypes, discrimination, and social inclusion from Swedish and international perspectives, with a consistent gender perspective throughout. The project is interdisciplinary and has connections to work and organizational psychology, political science, gender studies, and research on integration and belonging. Methodologically, the project is based primarily on experimental studies and psychometric approaches, with the possibility of also applying neuroscientific methods. The work is conducted within the discipline of psychology, characterized by a personal and close-knit environment with collegial support among colleagues. The doctoral student will be part of an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research environment and work in close collaboration with advisors, while great emphasis is placed on developing independence in planning, implementation, and scientific communication. In the latter part of the dissertation work, there is room for the doctoral student to design their own sub-study within the framework of the project's overall theme. Own research training comprising research (80%) as well as teaching and administrative work (20%). The duties consist mainly of conducting research under supervision that leads to a doctoral dissertation. The work also includes completion of 60 higher education credits in doctoral courses as well as participation in seminars and other activities within the discipline and department. Eligibility Basic eligibility for doctoral-level education is held by those who have completed a degree at advanced level, fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country acquired substantially equivalent knowledge. For specific eligibility, at least 90 higher education credits in psychology or substantially equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way within or outside the country is required. Additional Requirements Beyond basic eligibility, good ability to express oneself in English, both orally and in writing, is required. Good knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language (Norwegian or Danish) is meritorious. Further, it is required that the applicant is driven and independent, analytical, initiative-taking, collaboration- and development-oriented, and persistent. Meritorious for the position are higher education studies at advanced level in psychology as well as previous experience within the project's research area. Experience with development or validation of psychometric tools, work with EEG/ERP or other neuroscientific methods, and knowledge of tools such as R, Matlab, or Python are also meritorious. Scientific publications or manuscripts in progress can be considered meritorious, particularly if the publication or manuscript relates to the project's research area. Assessment Criteria Selection among eligible applicants is made based on a comprehensive assessment of the applicant's ability to benefit from doctoral education. In the assessment, particular weight will be placed on the scientific quality of independent theses and the project plan submitted by the applicant in the application, personal qualities, and understanding and interest in the project's research area. Processing The handling of the employment follows the forms specified in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) and proceeds in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations. If the pace of doctoral education changes, the employment period will be adjusted accordingly. A new doctoral student appointment is valid for a maximum of one year; the appointment may thereafter be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
