Specialist Officer at 182nd Radio and Radio Link Platoon to F 16
F 16 is responsible for Uppsala Garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The Wing is also responsible for monitoring Swedish airspace 24/7, 365 days a year, and leads the Air Force's fighter aircraft in flight. About the Unit Sensor Company, part of the Air Force's Command and Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, is mobile and has the task of densifying, complementing, and replacing infrastructure for aviation radio and radar. The company can, at short notice, strengthen radar coverage, aviation radio coverage, and communications at strategic points throughout the country. Main Responsibilities As a Specialist Officer in the Radio Platoon, you will serve as platoon sergeant or deputy platoon sergeant for two groups of soldiers. The groups consist of technicians, combat medics, vehicle drivers, support gunners, and high-altitude workers. The platoon sergeant and their deputy are specialist officers serving as either command personnel or technicians. The technical officer is a specialist in communications and operation of the platoon's various radio systems. As technical officer, you are responsible for the troops' technical systems and support the groups' technicians. The command officer acts as the liaison between platoon leadership and group leadership and is also the platoon sergeant. You are responsible for tactical planning with the groups within the platoon. You will also conduct training and plan exercises for the groups. As command officer, ground combat competence is valued. Daily operations are conducted primarily at Uppsala Garrison, though the company's tasks apply throughout Sweden. During these assignments, you will often work far from other parts of the company. To perform your duties, you may receive training in climbing for high-altitude work and vehicle licensing for trucks and heavy trailers.
