The position is located at the Buildings Department, which is part of the university administration. The university administration serves as the support and service function for university leadership and core activities in research and education. The Buildings Department is responsible for everything from strategic facility planning, renovation and new construction projects, ongoing facility administration and contract management, room and exam scheduling, to work with environmental issues, physical work environment, and facilities maintenance. Duties As assistant facilities manager for the facilities maintenance unit, you will assist the facilities manager in daily operations and provide close support to the service leaders (group leaders). This involves assisting the facilities manager in leading, directing, planning, and following up on facilities maintenance operations. Main duties: Assist the facilities manager in executing tasks within personnel management and work environment responsibility at the unit, and when needed, in conducting employee and salary discussions. Assist the facilities manager with responsibility for managing the facilities maintenance unit's budget for personnel costs, operating expenses, and inventory costs. Assist the facilities manager with procurement and requisitions. Support service leaders in their leadership, work environment efforts, scheduling, and quality work. Together with the facilities manager and service leaders, drive change and development initiatives. Assist with responsibility for recruiting and onboarding new service leaders and service assistants. Participate practically in facilities maintenance operations when needed. The position involves ensuring clear objectives and expectations, appropriate staffing levels, and a well-functioning and efficient operation. Administrative tasks such as reporting in the university's personnel system and ordering materials and equipment are also part of the position. Qualifications We are looking for someone with secondary education. You have documented several years of experience in facilities maintenance operations, including several years of experience managing larger staff groups.
