Our Operations
The Eye Clinic is one of the hospital's largest outpatient departments with approximately 45,000 visitors per year. The Eye Clinic is a pleasant workplace with a large patient flow. Those of us who work here are a great team consisting of nurses, orthoptists, opticians, nursing assistants, and ophthalmologists.
Patients aged 0-100 years come to us with various eye care needs. We receive patients with acute illnesses at our emergency clinic, patients requiring temporary treatment, and patients with various chronic eye diseases. In our work, we use a lot of technical equipment to monitor disease progression and make diagnoses.
We are part of the Neurology Clinical Area, the Eye Section, which also includes Eye Day Surgery and an Eye Ward at Akademiska Hospital, as well as an Eye Clinic in Enköping and a smaller eye clinic in Tierp.
We are now looking for a research nurse/optician for our operations. As a research nurse/optician, you will work 50% in research and the remaining time you will work at the Eye Clinic as a nurse or optician.
Your Assignment
As a research nurse/optician at the Eye Clinic, you will work according to the competency model for research nurses at Akademiska Hospital and will participate in both academic research studies and clinical trials. With us, you will become part of an engaged team where collaboration and knowledge exchange are central.
This position is not attached to any specific project but is linked to several different research projects. The first step is therefore to gain an overview of which studies are ongoing. Our studies include both adults and children with various types of eye diseases and are clinical and patient-focused. We also participate in drug studies of eye medications, as well as medications that may cause potential eye side effects. We also collaborate with other researchers at the hospital who have other specialties, which increases the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
Work tasks include:
• Direct patient contact, such as clinic visits and telephone follow-ups.
• Reporting to research registries
• Documentation according to applicable regulations.
• Participation in investigator meetings and planning and initiation of research studies.
• Collaboration and coordination with physicians, researchers/investigators, sponsors, monitors, and study participants.
Your Qualifications
• Licensed nurse or licensed optician with authorization to practice within Swedish healthcare.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Good IT skills and interest in working in various digital systems.
• Several years of professional experience and a strong interest in clinical research.
• Experience in eye care and work within clinical research and training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) are merits.
