Lawyers for the Children and Student Ombudsman in Stockholm

Do you want to use your legal expertise to strengthen children's and students' rights in practice? At the Children and Student Ombudsman (BEO), you'll work in an organization where law meets social benefit – and where your work has direct impact for children who have experienced harassment in schools and preschools. The Children and Student Ombudsman's (BEO's) mission is to ensure that legislation against harassment in schools and preschools is followed. BEO handles incoming reports of harassment, informs about the legislation, and conducts damages proceedings against school authorities on behalf of children and students. The focus is on safeguarding children's and students' rights. BEO is a special function at the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's headquarters in Stockholm. We are approximately 25 employees and are now seeking additional lawyers for our operations. Work Tasks As a lawyer at BEO, you will primarily work with handling and investigating cases concerning harassment in schools and preschools. Your tasks include investigating reports of harassment submitted to BEO both in writing and verbally, and preparing decision proposals. In cases where damages claims are filed, you will monitor the authority's position and, where applicable, prepare the case for upcoming proceedings. Your tasks may also include giving lectures, drafting and writing responses to referrals, and participating in operational development. You will also answer general questions about the legislation from individuals and school authorities. The work requires close collaboration with other departments at the Swedish Schools Inspectorate. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a Swedish law degree. You must also have notarial certification or equivalent experience as a legal advisor or court presenter, completed within the last five years.
