Work tasks include actively contributing to the continued development of the research environment within your field of research and seeking external research funding for your research activities. Teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels and supervision of doctoral students are also included. The employment is limited to six years, full-time, and consists of at least 70 percent own research and the remaining time devoted to pedagogical or other qualification. The place of work is Umeå, and we expect a high level of presence and active participation in the department's activities. Eligibility requirements A person is eligible for employment as an Assistant University Lecturer if they have completed a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence. Primarily, a person who has completed a doctoral degree or acquired equivalent competence no more than seven years before the time of application for employment as an Assistant University Lecturer should be considered. However, a person who has completed a doctoral degree or acquired equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special circumstances. Special circumstances refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances, 4 ch 4a § Higher Education Ordinance. The doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence must have been completed within a subject area relevant to the Faculty. Very good knowledge of English in both speech and writing is a requirement for the position. Assessment criteria and the balance between them The degree of such skill as is required for eligibility for employment as an Assistant University Lecturer serves as the assessment criterion for the employment. In evaluating candidates, the degree of scientific skill shall be decisive. Furthermore, the degree of pedagogical and other skill shall be considered in the evaluation. In assessing scientific skill, particular weight shall be placed on the ability to independently conduct and publish research of high quality within your field of research and contributions to the international scientific community. Particular weight shall also be placed on experience in leading research and successfully obtaining research funding in competition with others. Great weight shall be placed on the quality of publications where the applicant has been the main author. In assessing pedagogical skill, particular weight shall be placed on experience in teaching and supervision. In assessing other skill, particular weight shall be placed on international mobility, for example research visits, experience from a postdoctoral stay, or employment at another institution than the one where the applicant completed their doctorate. Great weight shall be placed on established collaborations within and outside academia. A general requirement for all teacher categories is both good cooperation skills and the competence and suitability otherwise needed to perform work tasks well. Description of the Operations The Department of Clinical Science conducts internationally competitive research in molecular medicine, with strong ties to clinical operations. A central focus is the development and application of advanced methods for studying genetic, molecular, and microbial mechanisms behind disease and health, particularly in pediatric medicine and translational research. Responsibilities As a Senior Staff Scientist, you will play a key role in developing, driving, and coordinating advanced research infrastructure in molecular medicine. Qualifications Required To be employed as a Senior Staff Scientist, a doctoral degree in molecular medicine or another research field relevant to the position is required. Furthermore, solid knowledge and extensive experience in human molecular medicine is required, with independent responsibility for advanced molecular characterization and integrated analysis in complex, longitudinal, and intervention-based studies, as well as very good knowledge of underlying theories and principles. Additionally, specialized expertise is required in the development, adaptation, and application of advanced sequencing-based and computational methods for molecular analysis of biological systems. The position also requires: Experience with qualified management and coordination work with research infrastructure, such as work supervision, budget work, coordination, collaboration, reporting, and grant and financing work. Experience with advanced tasks that involve development and application of advanced methods in areas relevant to the position, such as third-generation long-read sequencing (Oxford Nanopore), sequencing-based transcriptomics, and associated bioinformatic analysis workflows for large-scale molecular data. Coordinator for Sami Project, Library Development, Västerbotten

Library Development Västerbotten works to promote development, collaboration, and quality in the region's public library activities and to strengthen libraries' role as a force for democracy, participation, and diversity. Since March 2026, together with Region Norrbotten, Region Västernorrland, Region Jämtland Härjedalen, and Region Dalarna, we have been running the inter-regional book start project Miessie. The project is funded by the Swedish Arts Council and aims to strengthen the Sami language of the youngest children in everyday life and activities through collaboration. The project contributes to promoting language development and reading among young children in the Swedish part of Sápmi. Collaboration takes place primarily between professionals and actors working with young children's language development, such as children's librarians, child health nurses, speech therapists, and educators. Sámi Library and Sámi Language Center are also actors in the project. WIFORCE Coordinator
Faculty of Forest Science Wallenberg Initiatives in Forest Research (WIFORCE) is Sweden's largest research program in forest management and forest genetics with a budget for the period 2019-2030 of approximately 900 million SEK including co-financing. WIFORCE consists of a research program in Future Silviculture and a research program in Forest Biology and Biotechnology.
