International Office is seeking an engaged and responsible international coordinator who wants to contribute to the university's internationalization efforts within the university alliance EC2U (European Campus of City-Universities). As an international coordinator, you will work to support the activities and people connected to the alliance work.
The formation of a university alliance is financed through one of the EU's flagship initiatives for the development of higher education, the European Universities Initiative. The EU's investment in European university alliances aims for universities in different European countries to collaborate across disciplines in in-depth strategic alliances to address various future issues and societal challenges. The goal is to raise the quality of European higher education and contribute to inclusion and strengthened competitiveness. Students within the alliance will be able to customize their education with courses from the different universities. Through the Erasmus+ program, students and employees receive funding for exchange periods in the other countries. The focus of the EC2U alliance is on developing processes that contribute to harmonization between universities in education and research. One of the goals is to create good opportunities for students to move easily between the different universities in the network. In addition to Umeå University, the alliance includes eight universities in Finland, France, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Germany, and Austria. You can read more about EC2U here: https://ec2u.eu/
International Office is an independent unit with 20 employees within the university's administration and works on university-wide internationalization issues. The unit's mandate includes responsibility for the university's participation in multiple exchange programs, networks and international collaborations, tuition administration, international student recruitment, international alumni activities, and supporting student and employee mobility. All of these are important for the development of the EC2U university alliance. International Office offers a dynamic workplace with exciting encounters with students, teachers, and collaboration partners from around the world and works in close cooperation with departments, faculties, and other units. Work Tasks
As an international coordinator, you will be part of an administrative team that supports and handles the alliance work on behalf of Umeå University. The implementation of the alliance's activities is carried out by several local theme groups consisting of essential people and functions for the purpose, such as teachers, researchers, student representatives, and technical and administrative staff, and you will be part of providing administrative support. You will participate in planning and follow-up, administer meetings and activities, and maintain continuous contact with representatives from other universities and associated partners in the region within the same work area. As part of the employment, you will have many contact points, so it is important that you are good at building relationships. EC2U is a new type of collaboration where routines and templates for the work are still being developed. Travel is part of the position.
Your work tasks as an international coordinator may include:
administer, handle, and coordinate the work for a number of local EC2U groups at Umeå University,
coordinate work within the alliance with other EC2U universities,
serve as a contact person for associated partners in the region for Umeå University,
serve as a contact person for staff and students at Umeå University regarding EC2U matters,
inform, communicate, and provide service to faculties and departments at the university as well as associated partners in the region.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
a degree from a university/college that the employer deems relevant,
several years of relevant and current experience with independent qualified administrative work,
interest in international issues in higher education and experience in managing international collaborations or exchanges in education or research,
experience working with issues and regulations related to promoting international mobility of students, staff, and teachers,
experience of having participated in an international exchange,
good computer skills and experience working with M365,
good knowledge of English and Swedish in speech and writing and ability to use English as a working language.

You have good initiative and organizational skills with attention to detail. This means you are flexible and find it stimulating to work in an environment with varied tasks and at different levels. The work also requires that you enjoy and function well in work that is performed independently as well as in a group. We also see that you can prioritize from a holistic perspective and are accustomed to taking initiative and working with a solution-focused approach.

The position is a 6-month temporary full-time employment with start date September 1, 2026 or by agreement.
