Read more about Umeå University as a workplace. Description Internationalization at Umeå University is conducted at many different levels and encompasses both employees and students. The International Office works on university-wide internationalization matters. Our mandate includes responsibility for the university's participation in multiple exchange programs, networks, and other collaborations, supporting mobility for students and employees, tuition administration, international student recruitment, and international alumni activities. We work in close collaboration with departments, faculties, and other units. We are responsible for university-wide exchange agreements and coordinate the university's participation in several exchange programs and networks. The International Office is an independent unit within the university's administration with 20 employees. We can offer a dynamic workplace with exciting interactions with students, faculty, and collaboration partners from around the world. We are now seeking a communications officer for a six-month fixed-term position at 100% capacity. Start date September 1, 2026, or by agreement. Duties As a communications officer, you will be part of the communications team at the International Office. The team works strategically and operationally to support the unit's internal and external communications, promote the university to recruit international students, and coordinate international alumni activities. As a communications officer at the International Office, you will participate in various working groups with other staff members at the unit. You will also be part of national and international networks within higher education. Your duties will include the following: Produce, update, and structure content for websites and other channels to support students and employees on internationalization matters. Support the unit with internal and external communications, for example through collaborative platforms, newsletters, presentations, networking events, etc. Work with content for websites, social media, and other channels to promote Umeå University as a study destination for international students. Write internal and external news and articles in Swedish and English. Plan and create content for social media in Swedish and English. Plan and execute digital and physical events for prospective and current international students and alumni. Produce and/or project manage orders for printed and digital materials, such as brochures, advertisements, posters, roll-ups, and exhibition materials. Participate in smaller and larger projects linked to the International Office's activities. Qualifications University degree in communications or another field that the employer deems relevant. Relevant and current experience with: Planning, implementing, and following up on communications initiatives Adapting messages for different target audiences and channels Working with social media and digital communications Writing for websites, news media, or other platforms You have excellent ability to express yourself in English and Swedish, both verbally and in writing. The position requires high standards of both accuracy and a logical and systematic approach. As a person, you are analytical with a strong drive to turn ideas into practice through dialogue with others. You view collaboration with others as a natural and obvious part of the work, while being proactive, self-directed, and flexible, as well as willing to take significant personal responsibility. You have an interest in international matters, a service-oriented approach, are outgoing, and value interaction with students and employees. Personal suitability is weighted heavily.
