Unit Description The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit for Serious Behavioral Disorders (BUP-ANB) is a new regional unit launching in 2026. The service is based on the government assignment Integrated Care (2021-2024) and provides specialist psychiatric care to community-placed children and young people up to age 21 with serious behavioral disorders and concurrent psychiatric care needs when ordinary outpatient care is insufficient. The unit will be built with four mobile interprofessional teams consisting of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and administrative staff. Approximately 25 employees will work in the service. The target group is children and young people with complex psychiatric and social comorbidity, often with experience of care breakdown, repeated placements, and serious mental health issues. The service area covers the entire Västra Götaland Region. Initially, the service focuses on adolescents placed in SiS homes, but placement in HVB homes and within the Prison and Probation Service is also planned. The unit belongs to the operational area Neurology and Psychiatry for Children at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, within the section Child and Adolescent Psychiatric 24-Hour Care and Specialty Clinics. The service is mobile with team-based work in close collaboration between professions.
