Description BUP Serious Behavioral Disorders (BUP-ANB) is a new regional operation starting in 2026. The operation builds on the government assignment Integrated Care (2021–2024) and will offer specialist psychiatric care to community-placed children and young people up to age 21 with serious behavioral disorders and simultaneous psychiatric care needs, when standard outpatient care is insufficient. The unit will be built with four mobile interprofessional teams consisting of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare administrators. In total, the operation will comprise approximately 25 employees. The target group is children and young people with extensive psychiatric and social comorbidity. Many have experience with care breakdowns, repeated placements, and serious mental health issues, such as self-harm, trauma, or behavioral disorders. The catchment area is the entire Västra Götaland region. Initially, the operation will focus on adolescents placed in SiS facilities in the region. Long-term, children and young people placed in HVB facilities and within the Prison Service will also be included. Organizationally, the unit belongs to the Neurology and Child Psychiatry operation at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, within the Child Psychiatric 24-hour Care and Specialist Clinics section. The operation is mobile and meets the young person where they are located. Work is conducted as teamwork with close collaboration between professionals.
