About the Surgical Platoon The Surgical Platoon is a central part of the Hospital Battalion's medical care capability and is tasked with establishing, operating, and supporting surgical activities in field environments. The platoon contributes to ensuring that qualified surgical care can be provided near operational areas, which increases the ability to save lives and reduce the consequences of injuries and illness. Operations include planning, establishment, and operation of surgical treatment sites as well as support to military operations with qualified medical care. The unit is continuously trained and exercised to be able to operate nationally and internationally and under conditions where ordinary medical care resources are limited or heavily strained. Key Responsibilities As an operating room nurse, you are an important part of the team around surgical and acute operations that can take place under demanding work conditions, while the work environment can be physically challenging. You assist the surgeon during operations and ensure sterilization of instruments. Work is largely conducted prehospitally, and parts of your working time may be deployed abroad in international military operations. You participate in training both as a student and instructor, participate in exercises, or plan for upcoming operations. The professional role includes military training, including combat training, in order to be able to protect and defend your own team and patients. The position also includes clinical work as an operating room nurse with a civilian healthcare provider. REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Licensed nurse with a specialist degree in operating room nursing. Minimum 2 years of current work experience as an operating room nurse in an operating room department.
