The security policy situation in our region and in the world has changed, and the government has therefore decided that military capability should be strengthened. The importance of northern Sweden and the Nordkalotten region has increased, and winter capability and winter training within the Swedish Armed Forces and among our partner countries have thus grown. The Swedish Armed Forces Winter Unit (FMVE) is part of I 19 and has the primary task of developing and coordinating winter and subarctic capability within the entire Swedish Armed Forces.
