The Dysmelia and Arm Prosthetics Center in Örebro is a national center of excellence with high expertise in both research and treatment of individuals with dysmelia or acquired hand/arm amputations. Since September 1, 2025, we are one of four units in Sweden authorized to provide care for dysmelia as part of the National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) program. We are located in modern facilities in the V building at Örebro University Hospital. The Dysmelia and Arm Prosthetics Center provides care for children, adolescents, and adults. A large proportion of our patients are referred from other regions across the country. We work in interdisciplinary teams consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, orthopedic engineers, orthotists, pediatricians, hand surgeons, and orthopedic physicians, using a patient-centered approach. Our treatment interventions vary based on individual needs and may include surgery, orthotic treatment, assistive device fitting, prosthetic treatment, and training. An important part of our operations includes research, education, and collaboration at national and international levels. Organizationally and physically, the Dysmelia and Arm Prosthetics Center is part of Orthotics and Prosthetics, which belongs to the Rehabilitation and Assistive Devices division. A Master's degree, or ongoing Master's education, is desirable.
