Department A4 is an acute medical care unit. With us, you will meet and care for patients in need of both acute and planned postoperative care with a focus on upper and lower gastrointestinal, thoracic, vascular, urology, ENT, and oncology surgery patients. The department has 18 care beds and, if needed, two overflow beds. With us, you will experience variation in both pace and work tasks, and have the opportunity to become both well-rounded and specialized in acute medical care. Your Work Tasks You work together with the nurse on your care team close to the patients, responsibly and evidence-based while following our procedures. Together, you identify risks, assess, take action, and evaluate the patient's various care needs. Common work tasks with us include pre- and postoperative care and include, among other things, monitoring of vital parameters (NEWS), blood sugar checks, monitoring and follow-up of fluid and nutrition documentation, sample collection, wound and stoma care, management of drains, catheter placement, and more. You support patients in their daily care, such as personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, and ensure they are safe and well-prepared for examinations and operations. You play a central role in creating a good care environment. You document your work in the TakeCare journal system. Description Unit BUP Serious Behavioral Disorders (BUP-ANB) is a new regional operation starting in 2026. The operation builds on the government assignment Integrated Care (2021-2024) and offers specialist psychiatric care to community-placed children and young people up to 21 years old with serious behavioral disorders and concurrent psychiatric care needs when ordinary outpatient care is insufficient. The unit will be built up with four mobile interdisciplinary teams consisting of doctors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare administrators. Approximately 25 employees will work in the operation in total. The target group is children and young people with extensive psychiatric and social comorbidity. Many have experienced care breakdown, repeated placements, and serious mental health issues such as self-harm, trauma, or behavioral disorders. The service area covers all of Västra Götaland. Initially, the operation targets young people placed in SiS homes in the region. In the long term, children and young people placed in HVB homes and within the Prison and Probation Service are planned to be included. The unit is organizationally part of the Neurology and Child Psychiatry operation at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, within the Child Psychiatric 24-Hour Care and Special Clinics section.
