Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in chemistry. The department has 270 employees and generates annual revenues of 300 million kronor. The department's six programs conduct highly successful research of high international caliber. Job Responsibilities The project addresses the synthesis of photoactive metal complexes and their application in catalyzing small-molecule activation. The project has components of organic chemistry, spectroscopy, and coordination chemistry; the systems will be characterized using both traditional organic methods as well as electrochemical, photochemical, and spectroscopic methods. The doctoral candidates will develop lanthanide-catalyzed transformations. They will synthesize ligands and their metal complexes, perform chemical and spectroscopic characterization of the complexes, and evaluate their photophysical and photochemical behavior. They will write research reports and publications, and present their research results at department and group meetings as well as national and international conferences. The position likely involves supervision of undergraduate students. The doctoral candidates' primary work involves conducting their research studies, which includes participation in research projects and doctoral training courses. Work responsibilities may also include teaching and other departmental duties (maximum 20%). The project will be partially conducted in collaboration with partners at Uppsala University. Your Tasks Work as an inspector consists largely of field inspections of pharmaceutical and active substance manufacturing, import, and wholesale distribution. As a new inspector, you will receive thorough introduction to inspection work tailored to your previous experience, and after certification you will participate in and lead inspections. With more inspection experience, national inspections will alternate with international inspection assignments for, among others, the EMA (European Medicines Agency). As an inspector, you will participate in various working groups and collaborate with other operations within the Swedish Medical Products Agency and are expected to contribute to handling various matters as well as to consensus and harmonization regarding regulations and inspection activities. Your tasks also include informing about regulations in various contexts and handling incoming questions from companies, other authorities, or the public. Based on previous experience, there are various paths for development in an expert role with us. There are good opportunities to further develop in the role through participation in national and international working groups. Your Background We are looking for someone with a natural science university or college degree and many years of solid professional experience in quality assurance of pharmaceutical manufacturing or wholesale distribution of medicines. You have good current knowledge of GMP and GDP, and we would like you to have good insight into regulations regarding quality and approval of medicines. You should largely meet the formal requirements for a qualified person (QP) according to HSLF-FS 2021:102. It is a merit if you have experience from commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing, inspections/auditing, or have worked as a qualified person (QP or RP). It is also a merit if you have deeper knowledge of active substance manufacturing, sterile or biological medicines. Daily work requires very good ability to communicate in speech and writing in both Swedish and English. A driver's license is a requirement as the work involves regular travel. Postdoctoral Researcher in Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in chemistry. The Department has 270 employees and an annual budget of 300 million Swedish kronor. Duties The project addresses the synthesis of photoactive metal complexes and their application in catalyzing small molecule activation, with components of organic chemistry, spectroscopy, and coordination chemistry. The systems will be characterized using traditional organic as well as electrochemical, photochemical, and spectroscopic methods. The postdoctoral researcher will develop lanthanide-catalyzed transformations. They will synthesize ligands and their metal complexes, perform chemical and spectroscopic characterization of the complexes, and evaluate their photophysical and photochemical behavior. They will write research reports and publications, and present their research results at departmental and group meetings as well as at national and international conferences. The position likely involves mentoring undergraduate students and doctoral students. The main responsibilities for a postdoctoral researcher are to conduct research. These may also include teaching, up to 20% of work time. The project will be conducted in part in collaboration with partners at Uppsala University. Representative recent publications: J. Am. Chem.
