Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (VH) conducts research, education, and environmental analysis in animal science and veterinary medicine, including animal care. We work with most aspects of our livestock's lives and health – agricultural animals as well as sport and companion animals. The Faculty Office at the VH Faculty is part of the shared administrative support at SLU and is located in Uppsala. The office's primary task is to assist the faculty leadership and, to some extent, the faculty's institutions with decision-making materials and administrative support. About 20 competent staff members work at the office with various responsibilities and tasks, such as planning, case preparation, financial management, follow-up, expert support, and ongoing administration within the faculty's various operational areas. The office staff also serve as secretaries and speakers in the faculty's various committees and boards. The Faculty Director is adjunct to the Faculty Board and works closely with the faculty's dean. The role includes being an active partner in the faculty's leadership work and contributing to SLU's and the faculty's development, common goals, and operational development. Organizationally, you belong to the shared administrative support and report directly to the University Director. The Faculty Director, together with other faculty directors and department heads, participates in the administrative support's management group. As Faculty Director, you will frequently participate in meetings both internally at SLU and externally, and can represent SLU, the faculty, or the office depending on the context. Your Background We are looking for you who have higher education and documented strong ability and experience leading operations, employees, and work groups in a complex environment, preferably within the higher education sector. A research degree is meritorious but not required. You are a skilled and solution-oriented leader with initiative and independence. You have great integrity and are accustomed to making decisions; you are also responsive and attentive, lead with an understanding of the whole, and are accustomed to delegating. You have a strong ability to create clarity, build relationships, develop employees and work groups, and contribute to constructive dialogue. The position requires high standards of communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire your employees. Strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English is a requirement, as is good collaboration skills and an understanding of academic conditions. A genuine interest in higher education and research is a prerequisite. We place great importance on personal qualities relevant to the position.
