The position is located at the Buildings Department, which is part of the university administration. The university administration serves as the support and service function for university leadership and core activities in research and education. Work Duties Research on fundamental models and methods in machine learning and their applications in medicine. We will continue our work on extracting knowledge from large-scale ECG datasets and possibly related data. The aim is to investigate the use of these models for decision support, and the position may also involve work with decision algorithms. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with colleagues at the Faculty of Medicine here in Uppsala and likely also with our collaborators in Brazil. Key technical terms for the position include: probabilistic models, deep learning, decision algorithms, Bayesian inference, and precision medicine. Qualification Requirements PhD in machine learning, control theory, signal processing, computational statistics, or a related relevant field, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish PhD in machine learning, control theory, signal processing, or computational statistics. Duties The work includes planning, administration, implementation, and reporting of a university course. Your work is based on the course plan and is carried out together with a colleague and in close collaboration with guest lecturers, the course working group (consisting of experienced university teachers, researchers, and professors), and the course coordinator at CEMUS. The tasks include, among other things, contacting guest lecturers and students, planning the course structure and materials, preparing and leading seminars and workshops, and course administration. The work involves creatively building on experiences from previous course sessions and passing on your own experiences to future student assistants and course assistants. Qualification Requirements • Employment as a student assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. Only those who are admitted to and registered in education at the basic or advanced level may be employed as student assistants, and employment may not exceed 50% of full-time work (HF Chapter 5 § 9 & 10). • Good computer skills and strong English language skills, both spoken and written. • Documented ability to independently drive and complete work tasks within given time frames, even during temporary peak work periods. • Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Desirable/Meriting Experience Studies in sustainable development. Experience in interdisciplinary education. Experience planning and leading workshops and seminars. Documented experience and good ability to collaborate with people from different backgrounds.
