In the fall of 2024, a school social team was launched as a project for collaboration between school and social services to identify students with problematic school absenteeism. In addition to representatives from the school, the team includes a social worker from Social Services. The school social worker has an outreach and treatment role with a focus on motivating early interventions for children, youth, and their families. As a school social worker, you work actively both at school and at the social services' open care. You participate in joint workplace meetings, supervision and guidance at social services, while also attending student health meetings. The team at the social services office consists of three social secretaries, one youth case worker, one foster care secretary, one intake secretary, and three family therapists. As a school social worker, you work closely with the intake secretary and family therapists to serve as a bridge to early parenting support. Job Responsibilities The school social worker role is based on both preventive/outreach work and direct client-facing work with needs assessment and targeted interventions. You work with families before they become subject to official authority.
