The positions are a temporary assignment through January 31, 2027 with possible opportunity for extension. Start as soon as possible according to agreement. The water unit works closely with the Fisheries and Restoration Unit and the Water Strategy Unit. Together we work broadly with water issues in the county, such as restoration of aquatic environments, fisheries, supervision of water activities, grants for local water care projects (LOVA), liming of acidified waters, protection of drinking water, as well as development of knowledge and planning materials, environmental monitoring and water management. Our shared task is to protect, restore and develop our aquatic environments and to contribute to achieving environmental and fisheries policy goals. The units together have approximately 40 employees with different educational backgrounds. We employ, among others, limnologists, marine biologists, fisheries biologists, natural geographers, environmental scientists, nature conservation engineers, agronomists and geologists. Duties The water unit works with various water activity matters under the Environmental Code. Our cases can involve many different types of activities that affect water: filling, excavation such as in restoration of watercourses, hydroelectric power plants, land drainage, drainage projects, coastal erosion, major infrastructure projects, water protection and extraction of surface or groundwater for drinking water or irrigation. You will primarily work with groundwater issues, but also contribute to the Water Unit's other work areas as needed. In the role, you have many contacts, including with municipalities and municipal companies, businesses, landowners, consultants, SGU, SGI, Trafikverket, Naturvårdsverket, Jordbruksverket, Mark- och miljödomstolen, Havs- och vattenmyndigheten, other county administrative boards and the general public. You will also work with issues concerning water protection areas, water supply and other groundwater-related matters. In the role you can also serve as internal support in these areas. As an employee with us, you have three roles: employee, colleague and service provider. In your role as an employee, you represent the authority; together with your colleagues you contribute to the collective result; and as a service provider you create social value based on your expertise. Qualifications The County Administrative Board seeks to have employees with different characteristics, conditions and life experiences. The interaction between employees' differences and similarities is one of the County Administrative Board's success factors. We are looking for someone who has a university degree in geology or other natural science university education with a focus on geology and groundwater.
