The Court of Appeals for Western Sweden is the second largest of the country's six courts of appeals. The Court of Appeals' primary task is to review cases and matters appealed from the district courts within its jurisdiction. The court is organized with four judicial divisions and one administrative division. Approximately 150 people work at the Court of Appeals. The court is located in central Gothenburg. 4 position(s). Judge training provides a unique opportunity to acquire extensive knowledge and experience within various areas of law. Choosing a judicial career means that you will daily contribute to a democratic and legally secure society where you work to ensure everyone's right to have their case heard in an independent and impartial court. About the Position The training service normally spans four years and begins with one year of service as a Court of Appeals Fiscal. As a Court of Appeals Fiscal, you will present cases and prepare proposed judgments and decisions, and keep minutes at main hearings. After this, you serve as a District Court Fiscal for two years at one of the district courts within the Court of Appeals' jurisdiction. As a District Court Fiscal, you handle and judge cases and matters, both independently and together with other judges at the district court. During this service, you typically also mentor notaries. Following your district court service, you return to the Court of Appeals for one year of adjunct service. You serve as a member and participate in collegial judging. Throughout your entire training service, you receive guidance from experienced, permanent judges and participate in a theoretical training program provided by the Court Academy.
